Aphrodite and the rose Sappho has written a poem about

The poem "The rose" by Sappho has inspired me to make this painting.

If Zeus chose us a King of the flowers in his mirth,

He would call to the rose and would royally crown it,

For the rose, ho, the rose! is the grace of the earth,

Is the light of the plants that are growing upon it.

For the rose, ho, the rose! is the eye of the flowers,

Is the blush of the meadows that feel themselves fair,--

Is the lightning of beauty, that strikes through the bowers

On pale lovers who sit in the glow unaware.

Ho, the rose breathes of love! ho, the rose, lifts the cup

To the red lips of Cypris10 invoked for a guest!

Ho, the rose, having curled its sweet leaves for the world,

Takes delight in the motion its petals keep up,

As they laugh to the Wind as it laughs from the west.

The portrait of a magician queen

When I've made this I just wanted to paint a woman wearing a tiara made of violets and an ellegant purple dress but after finishing it I realised my woman looks like a magician or a queen. She seems to be a mature dominant woman with some interest in magic, spirituality and the unknown.

The archetypal tree

One night I had a dream about this tree that seems to hold the sun with it's branches. The tree is an archetypal symbol of the ego while the sun is representing consciousness deep inside our minds. The tree is the mind while the sun is the soul.

Forbidden rainbow 🌈

I want to paint a rainbow but my colors are chained in a restrictive black and white world where there is no place for art and no place for anything that goes beyond the norm. When will I see the rainbow 🌈 of hope? This drawing is about the censorship of art in Romania. There are only a few galleries in Bucharest and more than 7000 painters who have no place where they can display their creations. The galleries that still exist in Bucharest don't accept all art. One example is my painting "Flames of love" rejected by some galleries for it's lesbian content.

Dividing polarity

This abstract drawing is about two poles of power that make what was once one world divide, break in two pieces
