Sappho's rose kissed by Aphrodite's red lips
Sappho's rose kissed by Aphrodite's red lips

Sappho's poem "The rose" has inspired me to make this painting of Aphrodite kissing 💋 the king of flowers.
You can read the poem below.
If Zeus1 chose us a King of the flowers in his mirth,
He would call to the rose and would royally crown it,
For the rose, ho, the rose! is the grace of the earth,
Is the light of the plants that are growing upon it.
For the rose, ho, the rose! is the eye of the flowers,
Is the blush of the meadows that feel themselves fair,--
Is the lightning of beauty, that strikes through the bowers
On pale lovers who sit in the glow unaware.
Ho, the rose breathes of love! ho, the rose, lifts the cup
To the red lips of Cypris10 invoked for a guest!
Ho, the rose, having curled its sweet leaves for the world,
Takes delight in the motion its petals keep up,
As they laugh to the Wind as it laughs from the west.

Aphrodite and Galatea, Pygmalion's muse from the Greek mythology
This is my painting of Aphrodite giving life to Galateea, the creation, the muse and the love of the sculptop Pygmalion. A painting that represents me too be cause like Pygmalion did, I have my own Galateea, my own ideal love, and I create her by every drawing and painting I make. I love her and the only thing missing in my life is her, as a real woman who can love me like I love her. You may say I am crazy but I am in love with the woman in my drawings and paintings and I wish she was real. I wish I coul hold her in my arms, I wish I could kiss her, I wish I could spend my life with her
