This is my watercolor painting of Sappho, Erinna(a poet who was her student) and two of the young maidens Sappho used to initiate in the beautiful art of poetry and feminity in the temple of Aphrodite, celebrating the goddess.I've made this afther I read the poem "Hymn to Aphrodite" by Sappho
.This is the way I imagine Sappho and the young girls singing this hymn and Aphrodite coming down to the temple to listen to their praiers
